Day 1: Ancient Arles

Morning: visit to the archeological museum of ancient Arles
and to a Santon craft workshop in the heart of the town.

12.30: Provencal lunch

14.00: tour of the town and its monuments, then free
time. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel.

Camargue

Day 2 : Escapade in the
Camargue

Morning: Departure for a trip in a horse and cart around
a nature reserve. Halt at a viewing point overlooking the
salt heaps.

Lunch
-
Departure for "Les Saintes Maries de la Mer"
via Vaccarès. Tour of the town.

Return to Arles via the Camargue museum. Dinner and
accommodation at the hotel.

Day 3 :
The Alpilles
- 9.00:
Departure for Fontvieille, stopping off at the Daudet windmill,
followed by a visit to an oil mill.
- 11.00:
departure for a trip round an olive grove and a tasting
of olive farm products. Lunch based on the theme of olives
in a restaurant.
- 14.30:
departure for the superb village of Les Baux de Provence.
Tour of the village and free time. Return to Arles via the
Roman mill of Barbegal.

Day 4 : Roman Provence

Departure for Nîmes. Visit to the Fountain Gardens
and the "Maison carrée" (square house)..

12.00: lunch
-
14.00: departure for the "Pont du Gard", the
famous roman aqueduct. On the way back , a visit to a gallo-roman
cellar with a tasting of wine and roman dishes.
- Return
to Arles. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel
